Environmental Engineering and Assessment Services

Avodahtec provides independent environmental engineering and assessment services across Canada, from Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments to permitting, contaminated-site work, and climate and flood risk. We help property owners, developers, lenders, municipalities, and industry understand environmental risk, meet regulatory requirements, and plan for a changing climate. Our environmental work is backed by engineering, so findings connect directly to the decisions and projects they inform.

Who we serve

Property owners, buyers, and lenders needing transaction and due-diligence support; developers and project proponents; municipalities and public bodies; industrial, energy, and oil and gas owners; and First Nation and remote communities.

The challenges our environmental clients face

Environmental risk shows up at every stage of a property or project:

  • Transaction and lending due diligence that requires a Phase I, and sometimes Phase II, environmental site assessment
  • Regulatory approvals, permitting, and environmental assessment for projects
  • Contaminated sites that need assessment, management, and remediation planning
  • Climate and flood risk that now gates infrastructure funding and threatens assets
  • Community and health vulnerability that has to be understood and planned for

Frequently asked questions

What is a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment?

A Phase I ESA is a non-intrusive review of a property's history, use, and condition to identify potential or existing environmental contamination. It is commonly required for property transactions and lending due diligence.

What is the difference between a Phase I and Phase II ESA?

A Phase I ESA is a records and site review to identify potential contamination. A Phase II ESA follows when concerns are found, adding sampling and testing of soil, groundwater, or materials to confirm and characterize contamination.

Does Avodahtec do climate and flood risk assessments?

Yes. We provide climate risk and vulnerability assessments, flood risk assessments, and the climate assessments that major infrastructure funding programs require.

Does Avodahtec work outside Alberta?

Yes. Avodahtec holds professional engineering licensure in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Yukon, including northern and remote communities.
